MAKAWAO HONGWANJI PRESCHOOL IN PUKALANI
-
• To provide quality early childhood education in a Jodo Shinshu Buddhist environment for the Upcountry Maui community.
• The Makawao Hongwanji Preschool in Pukalani is sponsored by and is affiliated with the Makawao Hongwanji Mission as an outreach to the needs of the community.
• We are committed to providing a positive, loving, safe and healthy environment to encourage your child's religious, intellectual, physical, social and emotional development to the fullest potential.
• We believe that children develop a strong sense of positive self-esteem with age appropriate learning experiences that stimulate and encourage curiosity for learning.
• Teaching of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism is one of our aims.
• Teachings are introduced through stories, songs and craft activities as well as weekly visits by the Resident Minister or once a month to the Temple.
-
• We offer a 5 day-a-week (Monday – Friday), half day program 7:15 a.m.-2:30 p.m. or a full day program from 7:15 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
• Students enroll in either the half day or full day program depending on space availability.
• Our school year is from August though May.
• We also provide a summer session, June through July.
• We do close on State and Federal holidays, fall, winter and spring breaks, and a week before and after summer session, usually following the State DOE holidays and breaks.
• Although lunches are not provided by the school, morning snack and afternoon snacks are provided.
